Story

Praise be the the Decaf. This is a 50/50 blend of 2 stellar decaffeinated coffees.

Colombia | Tumbaga | Washed - Sugarcane Decaffeination Process

We've been running this coffee consistently for the past 2 years, it's just great. Sourced through Sucafina Colombia, Tumbaga Sugarcane decaf takes decaf coffee to the next level. While most decafs out there use older coffees, they start with high quality coffee sourced from an integrated supply chain. The coffees included are selected for body and sweetness, with the understanding that the Sugarcane process will boost the perceived acidity. This coffee is part of Sucafina's Farmgate initiative, meaning that for every sack sold a portion of the profits are invested into local projects, in this case Tumbaga is supporting the "Coffee for Clean Water" campaign.

Burundi | Izuba | Washed - CO2 Decaffeination Process

Izuba is a killer washing station, we've bought a few of our best ever Burundi's from there. It's operated by Raw Material so the credentials are pretty sweet on the old traceability and ethics front. We've typically not bought CO2 decafs because of the extra mileage and the whole "don't wanna be paying the Swiss Water guys a chunk of the margin" thing. This one goes off to a decaffeination plant in Bremen DE, I don't know much about them, but again, Raw Material so pretty sure it's all gravy baby. It's really yum on it's own, but with the Tumbaga it's yum and forgiving.

Sustainability & Post Life
  • Carbon neutral production
  • Post-consumer wastemade pouches from a minimum of 83% recycled material
  • Recycle with bags at larger supermarkets (4 LDPE)
  • Remove label if possible (don't worry if not, we've ensured it's under the industry standard 5% of the whole item, so it can be recycled)

Coffee FAQ

Does your coffee come as whole bean or ground?

We only sell whole bean coffee. This is to ensure you make the best cup possible and a big part of that is grinding the coffee just before using it.

If you're in need of a grinder, head to our brewing store.

What's the difference between espresso and filter roast?

We profile most of our coffees for both espresso and filter. In basic terms, espresso coffee is often more developed and slightly darker than a filter roast. This varies with each coffee and in general we roast our coffee to what is considered a light/modern profile. Which one is best for you depends on your intended brewing method.

You can search by brew type on our shop.

Is your coffee roasted to order?

We roast multiple times throughout the week and dispatch online orders twice per week (at minimum). Due to the way we roast coffee, we recommend a minimum rest period of 10 days before brewing.
