Story

So last year we bought this coffee and it was so weird and good. I'm not sure exactly why we got it... I think we were just giddy to be getting a load of stuff from Diego so we chucked it in there for some contrast. It turned out to be our favourite of the bunch, despite being a bit cheaper than the mental thermic natural.

Diego told us he wasn't doing it this year, saying that some of the other preparations were an easier sell... we begged and he did a small separate batch for us.

Here's a bit of chat from Diego about our working relationship and the choice to produce this lot for us:

"We've been trying to find the right middle ground where the value of our coffee is justified—both in terms of quality and price. I think that’s always been fair game in our conversations with Harley. Personally, I’ve been pretty easygoing in this process, and I think you’ve been flexible as well. You’ve shown a willingness to explore new coffees and have remained consistent with the ones you liked."

I believe the first coffee you got from us was the Thermic, which you really loved. We pursued that coffee, but we also expanded into other offerings. You were one of the few clients who, after we produced that really funky anaerobic honey with olive-like notes, actually reordered it. That meant a lot to us."

I'm so gassed we've got it again, and it's a world exclusive for Cuppers (not that that matters, because you know, coffee isn't Pokemon). This years lot has way less of the weird umami notes, personally I'm a little sad about that but the rest of the team think it's better for it... it's definitely a complex cup, properly mental on espresso.

Coffee FAQ

Does your coffee come as whole bean or ground?

We only sell whole bean coffee. This is to ensure you make the best cup possible and a big part of that is grinding the coffee just before using it.

If you're in need of a grinder, head to our brewing store.

What's the difference between espresso and filter roast?

We profile most of our coffees for both espresso and filter. In basic terms, espresso coffee is often more developed and slightly darker than a filter roast. This varies with each coffee and in general we roast our coffee to what is considered a light/modern profile. Which one is best for you depends on your intended brewing method.

You can search by brew type on our shop.

Is your coffee roasted to order?

We roast multiple times throughout the week and dispatch online orders twice per week (at minimum). Due to the way we roast coffee, we recommend a minimum rest period of 10 days before brewing.
