Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Brewer | Black/White

We've been using the Sage Precision Brewer for years, and it's been our go-to recommendation for anyone wanting consistently good batch brew at home. But the Fellow Aiden takes things a step further. It's a really smart bit of kit, combining the convenience of a traditional filter coffee machine with a level of control and customisation that would normally involve a kettle, scales and a fair bit of patience.

You can adjust water temperature, brew ratio, bloom time and pouring stages, then save your good recipes to use again. It's decent for a single cup, amazing at around 1 litre, and can comfortably brew up to 1.5 litres into the insulated thermal carafe. The interchangeable brew baskets and carefully designed showerhead help keep extraction consistent across different batch sizes.

My favourite feature actually the programmable morning brew. I'm not ashamed to say I don't mind grinding my coffee the night before, in fact, sometimes when I'm brewing fresh stuff it actually tastes better. It's just sick to wake up and have the filter already brewing - yeah that's what I'm talking about, you can just schedule the thing.

The companion app adds another layer of flexibility, letting you manage brewing profiles and experiment with recipes, while the machine itself is refreshingly straightforward to operate. It's also a lovely-looking thing, with a compact footprint that makes just as much sense on an office counter as it does in your kitchen.

You'll still need to pair it with a decent grinder to get the best out of it, but that's about the only real compromise. For anyone who wants excellent, repeatable filter coffee without having to make a whole event out of brewing it, the Aiden is a fantastic bit of kit.
